Oboe Reed Interview

Here is an oboe reed lesson and interview with oboe repair technician John Symer. Mr. Symer has clients in all the major American orchestras. He began his career in Paul Covey's shop, after graduating from Eastman as a student of Robert Sprenkle. He also studied with Ronald Richards and later with Robert Bloom.

This discussion was very educational (even life-changing) for me, and I hope it will be for you too! We discuss cane, gouger blades, shaper tips, scraping, and more. Click the play button for the one-hour long audio discussion we had.

Recorded on 11/26/19.
